When the lead was discovered several state officials kept quiet and tried to cover up the matter, allowing Flint residents to continue drinking the toxic water. Unfortunately, the children of Flint will be affected the most by this ordeal as lead poisoning targets developing brain cells. The result is irreversible brain damage.
